ORAL MELANOTIC MACULE (OMM) (Also called focal melanosis labial melanotic macule) A benign, localized, flat pigmented lesion of the oral mucosa Caused by a focal increase in melanin production This patient has multiple labial melanotic macules. These are essentially freckles of the lips. These most commonly involve the lower lip. This patient had involvement of both the upper and lower lips.
