Tiny brown spot on the lip? Don't ignore it. A melanotic macule is a small, well circumscribed brown to black oral lesion most commonly seen on the lower lip and a high yield ADC exam favourite. Brown spots, especially on the lips, can be alarming to some. In some instances it can indicate rare oral mucosal melanoma, however in this case it was a non cancerous labial melanotic macule.
